3 Year Olds!

The past month has been kind of crazy, hence lack of blogging. My gram passed away which has broken and left a hole in my heart. I am still trying to live by my motto "enjoy each day to the fullest" my last conversation with my gram. Sometimes this is so easy to do, other days...well not so easy. Boys have been doing so many new and exciting things but they are really showing how head strong they are. I thought the terrible 2's were a challenge....NOTHING compared to the strong wills of 3 year old twins, especially when they work together as a team! Nicolas has sprouted into a giant it seems over night (including his sassy talk back to me). He loves to always tell me "No-Way", when I ask him to do something.

Nicolas was looking at himself in the mirror and very seriously said: "Mom please cut my hair". I asked him why and he said: "Because I don't like it curly or long, I want a trim - PLEASE TRIM IT MOM"!

Christian this week during a tantrum said: "Stop Mom..you are NOT listening". Then he proceeded to have a meltdown and all of sudden very seriously said: "May I have a tissue for my eyes". I couldn't help but start laughing at the kid.

A Good Game Of Hide and Seek With Grandma...

Green Goblin

We ended up making it to the movies from my last post but because we were late, we ended up sitting behind each other with the kids. With twins, being seperated sometimes doesn't work out, sometimes it does. This time, it ended up not working. We went to see the movie Cars 2. The first hour was great, nice and quiet, they were so excited to have their popcorn, sprite and sit in big boy seats. They were amazed by the big screen. I think the movie was a little advanced because they made this movie more like a James Bond cars cartoon. Not really for 3 year olds, especially when the second line of the movie the "secret car agent" calls the boat a jerk. Anyways, after about 1 hour they wanted to switch with mom and dad which was fine. Then Christian had enough so I took him out for a break and we went and walked around. Nicolas wanted to be with us and decided he wanted to go too. We could of saved some money and just went to the arcade and played Air Hockey which I think they liked more in the end!! From now on, it is only the dollar theater and shorter movies.

Christian informed me he was the "Green Goblin". He proceeded to cover himself in Green finger paint, so I just went with it and let him have a blast. I didn't get a great photo of Nicolas covered but he became the BLUE Goblin. The fun part was getting them from the kitchen to the shower without touching the walls. Needless to say, after their shower, I had to put on a TV show and clean up the walls in every room along the way, as well as the outside of our shower door. But it was worth it to see their huge smiles.

Bright and Beautiful

My grandmother (the boys great - grandma) came up with a great idea for a beautiful gift to give any child! Hallmark makes these large board books where you can record your voice reading the book to a child. It is fabulous because your child will forever know that person's voice for a life time. My grandmother bought the book "Bright and Beautiful" and she and my mom read the book together (rotating pages) to the boys. You can lock the voices so that they can never be re-recorded. I love the fact that my mom and grandma read it together and they each gave a personal message to the boys. The only down side is Christian had a COMPLETE meltdown when it wasn't his turn to read it (which I had to capture in a snap shot because it simply shows how much he loves this book- I promise, I would never exploit my son's sadness). Essentially, it was four generations reading together (great grandma, grandma, myself and the boys)! How cool is that!

Grandma's reading it at Great Grandma's- why in her bedroom ? It was the only place where it was quiet enough with all 15 of us there.

Family and Friend Tribes

I know why in some cultures families live in tribes and/or large families and friends stay close in proximity- it is so nice when you have family and friends around to help or just share with the fun day to day activities with the boys.

GREAT GRANDMA AND GRANDPA, COLLEEN AND UNCLE TUCKER!
Today- we went to Great Grandma McDermid's ( no photos unfortunately) but the boys got to see their Great Grandparents, Aunt Colleen and Uncle Tucker. They were so spoiled with yummy food, love, books and swimming! We loved being there- partially because I didn't have to do as much as usual and everyone pitched in with chasing the boys, feeding them, changing them and carrying all our stuff back and forth to the car!!

Grandpa takes boys out for dinner for the first time with him!! He is so excited and has been waiting for this. He kept getting choked up with tears throughout dinner - so sweet!



VISIT WITH AUNT DI-DI - so much fun and I loved the company and help (of course)!!! Aunt Di-Di went and got groceries and made us a fabulous meal before she left so we could all sit down for a nice meal. Aunt Di Di and I even cut and colored each others hair.


Grandma Karen- this week grandma has been busy working on the boys Halloween Costume! She sent me the first part to see if it fit- I was so happy with what she has done so far, so quickly- phase 1. My mom is seriously a great seamstress and makes great clothes. She is designing their costumes "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" -Dr. Suess twin characters.

Grandma Goble surprised the boys with a new Thomas the Train Tent!! Nicolas absolutely loved getting up from his nap and seeing this!! Grandma helped stay and set up tent- we even got her in the tent with Nicolas!


VISIT WITH JESSICA - this week with her daughter baby Addison. We had a great visit and traded off- I got to sit and hold Addison while Jess got on the floor and entertained and got tackled by the boys! Jessica and Nate also came over to hang out Saturday and Jessica took some of her fabulous photos of the boys for us.
